About Dr. Sally Rooke

I am a Clinical Psychologist within the Bournemouth and Christchurch area, working therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of psychological difficulties. I can offer face-to-face sessions locally or online support nationally.

I work both within the NHS and in the private sector. I use an eclectic approach to provide an individualised therapeutic service, utilising a variety of approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dyadic Developmental Practice and Systemic Therapy.

I specialise in mental health difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, and attachment difficulties. I also specialise in parenting, and am a fully accredited Incredible Years facilitator, as well as having completed training on Triple P parenting Programme. I utilise key aspects of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy which is particularly helpful for children who have experienced developmental trauma or who have attachment difficulties.

What to Expect: Sessions and Fees.

Initial Appointment

The first appointment lasts up to 90 minutes and gives you the opportunity to explain in your own words any concerns and areas you would like to address. The assessment is tailored to the individual but will usually involve the gathering of information about all areas of your life (e.g. health, work, school, family background). Towards the end of the appointment we will discuss what support I could offer you (if appropriate). This appointment is also a chance for you to get to know me and to decide if I am the right person to support you. The fee for an assessment session is £180.

Ongoing Sessions

A plan for further sessions will be made at the initial assessment if appropriate. This plan would be tailored to you and your needs. Often these sessions are weekly or once a fortnight and last 50 minutes. The fee for ongoing sessions £130.

Why choose a Clinical Psychologist

Clinical Psychologists are trained in a variety of different therapeutic approaches. This provides them with a wide set of skills and strategies which enables them to better tailor the support to the individual. It also enables an eclectic approach, where different therapies are combined to compliment each other. This is particularly helpful for individuals with more than one difficulty.

Over reliance on support from professionals can be detrimental to emotional wellbeing. Clinical Psychologists aim to provide individuals with skills and strategies that promote resilience. This can often mean that individuals need less sessions and are more able to face challenges without professional support in the future.
